Matthew Gearing KC
Matthew is a highly regarded lawyer with particular experience of arbitrations across Asia, having been based in Hong Kong for many years. He is ranked by the legal directories for his arbitration work globally and has been described as “without a doubt the best lawyer in Asia”.
His experience extends to commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, including under various rules such as HKIAC, SIAC, KLRCA, SCC, SCC, LCIA and ICSID. He also sits as an arbitrator and is on the HKIAC, SIAC and KLRCA panels.
Matthew was Chairperson of the HKIAC for three years and is also Hong Kong solicitor-advocate. Prior to being called to the Bar, he spent over 20 years at a magic circle law firm.
