Hong Kong International Airport
The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) provides a range of facilities and services for disabled guests to ensure their travel experience is as comfortable and convenient as possible. You may refer to their official website for more information.
HKIA has clearly marked and accessible elevators, ramps, and toilets throughout the airport, catering to the needs of individuals with mobility difficulties. There are also designated parking spaces for disabled guests.
Wheelchair assistance is available upon request for passengers who require mobility assistance. HKIA provides both manual and electric wheelchairs, and staff are available to assist with boarding and disembarking from aircraft.
HKIA provides special assistance for disabled guests at security checkpoints. Passengers can request a wheelchair, or staff can help with the screening process if additional assistance is required.
Hearing loop system is in place for passengers. The system is available at information centres, immigration counters, and boarding gates.
HKIA welcomes service animals, such as guide dogs, into the airport. There are areas designated for service animals to rest and relieve themselves.
Taxis provide the most convenient point-to-point transportation service for people with disabilities. For passengers with folding wheelchairs who can transfer into or out of a regular taxi, nearly all Hong Kong taxi cabs will be an option. Taxi fares as recorded by the taximeters are charged according to approved fare scales. No additional charge is levied on wheelchairs and crutches carried by passengers with disabilities.
Two existing taxi operators, namely Diamond Cab and SynCab are providing passengers with WATs and service of higher quality in the form of hire-as-a-whole service.
Diamond Cab: Accommodates a maximum of two wheelchair users on a single trip with two carers, or one wheelchair user with up to four passengers.
